Helen Kornfeld

Dr. Helen Kornfeld is a clinician with a deep passion for working with adults and older adults. Helen’s therapeutic approach is rooted in a relational psychodynamic framework, she recognizes the importance of connection—whether with others or with oneself—as foundational to well-being. Helen’s clinical strengths include empathic listening, a deep sensitivity to interpersonal dynamics and an ability to balance humor with serious therapeutic work. Helen works alongside clients to build a strong therapeutic relationship, actively creating a warm and supportive environment in which healing can unfold.
Helen’s clients describe her as authentic, humorous and compassionate, she is committed to creating space for clients to freely process their concerns while maintaining a collaborative and direct approach when needed. Helen recognizes that conversations about identities, positionality, and diversity can be difficult, requiring vulnerability, compassion, and respect. Her experience with clients from diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, and economic backgrounds has strengthened her commitment to offering equitable, culturally responsive care.
Helen is particularly dedicated to supporting the neurodivergent community, a focus established through both personal experience and professional expertise. Helen brings compassion, acceptance, and advocacy to her work with neurodivergent individuals, and participates actively and collaboratively in her client’s growth and development.
Helen earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Puget Sound and holds both a Master's degree and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Seattle. Helen is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State and working towards her independent licensure as a Clinical Psychologist. This dynamic educational background is enriched by Helen’s work experience in a variety of settings, including community mental health clinics, schools for students with learning differences, and university counseling centers.
Helen has experience administering formalized psychological assessments, as well as training in diagnosing and treating a broad spectrum of mental health concerns. Her doctoral dissertation explored the use of Polyvagal Theory exercises to address loneliness in older adults, showcasing her innovative and research-driven approach to care.
In her spare time, Helen can be found in the kitchen baking and trying out new recipes. She also loves TV and movies, especially sci-fi, horror, dark comedies, and baking shows.
